Why Volunteer YOU or YOUR MAN at The Mother Load Sale?
In order for a huge sale like this to be a success, we need many volunteers. This is a great opportunity to work alongside and meet other moms, dads and grandparents, while being part of an effort to stretch the family dollar. You do NOT need to be a seller to volunteer!
Volunteer Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to take basic instructions in English
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Volunteers will work at least one, 4-hour shift
- Volunteers will be contacted 2 weeks prior to be notified of their scheduled shift. Shift time preferences will be taken into consideration and priority will be given based on order in which Seller Contract or Volunteer (only) Registration Form is received.
- BE ON TIME - We're counting on you. Volunteers need to arrive 20 minutes early for their shift to sign in and receive instructions prior to the start of that shift.
- All volunteers are required to wear a red shirt during their shift.
- Shift responsibilities may include working as a cashier, removing price tags for customers, keeping the sales floor neat, assisting customers, selling tickets at the front door, assisting sellers with placing their items on the sales floor, and/or other duties.
- We ARE able to accommodate any physical limitations when assigning shift duties. There is something for everyone!
- For safety reasons, expectant mothers will no longer be allowed to work the Friday Night volunteer shift (unless given speical permission by TMLS BEFORE contract is mailed in.)
- Volunteers who sign up for a shift and then are “no shows” or who confirm their shift when assigned but then cancel will not be eligible to volunteer or sell at any future The Mother Load Sale events.
- Volunteers MAY NOT bring children to their volunteer shift. Sorry - no exceptions.
- Available Volunteer Shifts:
Shift A: (3:40) 4PM-10PM on Friday, Oct.15, 2010 - must arrive at 3:40PM to sign in.*note that Shift A includes time for vols (who are also sellers) to set out their own items & to shop at the presale 7-9PM* Shift B: (8:40) 9am-1PM on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 - must arrive at 8:40am to sign in.Shift C: (11:40)12PM-4PM on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010 - must arrive at 11:40am to sign in.Volunteer “Perks”
- Our volunteers are able to shop during the exclusive presale event on Friday night 7-9PM. Shop before the sale opens to the public on Saturday morning, and receive first choice of our quality items! There will be NO special guest passes given out anymore, so the only way to get to shop is to be a seller, volunteer or business sponsor.
ManPower Volunteer Shifts:
- As The Mother Load Sale grows, so does our need for extra muscle! Our ManPower Volunteer Shifts are shorter, labor-intensive shifts designed to assist our staff with the loading, setting up, taking down and unloading all of the racks, tables, etc. we use during the sale. These 2-hour shifts are shorter than the regular volunteer shifts and only open to men as they require much lifting, building, and maybe even sweating. For each ManPower Volunteer Shift worked, the seller designated on their Volunteer Registration Form (see below) earns an extra 5% profit from their sales - an extra 10% for 2 shifts (Fri. + Sun.) There are VERY limited ManPower shifts available, assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. HURRY! ManPower Volunteers will also be able to shop at the Exclusive Friday Night PreSale 7-9PM.
Available ManPower Shifts:Shift MP1: (2:40) 3-5PM on Friday, Oct.15 – must arrive at 2:40PM to sign inShift MP2: (2:40) 3-5PM on Sunday, Oct.17 – must arrive at 2:40PM to sign in- You are eligible for this shift ONLY if you are male AND connected to a registered seller at the sale who would earn the extra 5%. If you ARE NOT connected to a seller, you must sign up as a regular volunteer and work a complete 4-hour shift (which may or may not include hours during set-up and/or take-down if space is available. Regular male shift volunteers are also invited to shop at the Friday Night Presale, or may work the shift and allow their wives to shop in their place.
*NEW for Sellers* Earn extra 5% commission with the VOLUNTEER Referral Program!
Current sellers can earn an extra 5% commission for EACH NEW non-selling VOLUNTEER you refer to TMLS (up to 100%!)
There are 2 rules for you to receive the extra 5% credit: (1) The NEW volunteer must list your full name on the referral line of their Vol registration form BEFORE they mail it in - it can't be added after we receive it and writing in "a friend" will not earn anyone credit. NO exceptions will be made so MAKE SURE they know to list your name as the person who referred them to TMLS. (2) The new volunteer must actually show up and work their entire assigned shift!** All non-selling volunteers, whether attached to a seller or not, are invited to shop at the exclusive Friday Night PreSale from 7-9pm. ** For safety reasons, pregnant women MAY NOT volunteer on Friday night (unless given speical permission before contract is mailed in by owners of TMLS)
