Why Volunteer YOU or YOUR MAN at The Mother Load Sale?
In order for a huge sale like this to be a success, we need many volunteers. This is a great opportunity to work alongside and meet other moms, dads and grandparents, while being part of an effort to stretch the family dollar. You do NOT need to be a seller to volunteer!
R U expecting a baby soon? Have DADDY work the vol shift so YOU can SHOP at the PreSales. If you BOTH work, you BOTH get to shop at the PreSales!
There are 2 types of Volunteer shifts: "Regular" Volunteers & "ManPower" Volunteers.
"REGULAR" Volunteer Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to take basic instructions in English
"REGULAR" Volunteer Responsibilities
- Volunteers will work at least one, 6-hour shift on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
- Volunteers will be contacted 2 weeks prior to be notified of their scheduled shift. Shift time preferences will be taken into consideration and priority will be given based on order in which Seller Contract or Volunteer (only) Registration Form is received.
- PLEASE BE ON TIME - We're counting on you. Volunteers need to arrive 15-20 min. early for their shift to sign in and receive instructions prior to the start of that shift.
- All volunteers are required to wear a red shirt during their shift.
- Shift responsibilities may include working as a cashier, removing price tags for customers, keeping the sales floor neat, assisting customers, assisting sellers with placing their items on the sales floor, and/or other duties. No shopping during your volunteer shift. Shop after.
- We ARE able to accommodate any physical limitations when assigning shift duties. There is something for everyone! Physical limatations will not guarantee you a certain shift day.
- Volunteers MAY NOT bring children to their volunteer shift. No exceptions.
- For safety reasons, expectant mothers will no longer be allowed to work the Friday Night volunteer shift (unless given speical permission by TMLS BEFORE contract is mailed in.)
- Volunteers who sign up for a shift and then are “no shows” or who confirm their shift when assigned but then cancel will not be eligible to volunteer or sell at any future TMLS events.
Available "REGULAR" Volunteer Shifts:
Shift A: (2:40pm) 3:00pm-10:30pm on Friday, April. 13th – must arrive & sign-in by 2:40pm**NEW - Due to the speed/accuracy needed for set-up, former/experienced volunteers/sellers will be assigned this shift first **IMPT NOTE: Due to safety concerns, pregnant women MAY NOT work the Friday Night volunteer shift.**Shift B: (6:40am) 7am-1pm on Saturday, April 14th – must arrive & sign in by 6:40am.Shift C: (8:40am) 9am-3pm on Sunday, April 15th – must arrive at 8:40am to check-in"REGULAR" Volunteer “Perks”
- Our volunteers are able to shop during the exclusive presale event on Friday night 7-9PM and Sunday 9-10am. There will be no guests allowed at presales. The only way to shop at the TMLS Fri and/or Sun Presale is to be a seller, volunteer or business sponsor.
- TMLS provides all vols with FREE LUNCH during the 20 min. break during their shift.
- $25 Gift Certificate – To reward Sellers/Vols for referring NEW Sellers and/or NEW Non-Selling Volunteer they bring to TMLS, the seller/Vol who brings in the most NEW sellers/vols will be awarded (on Fri. Night) a $25 gift certificate to TMLS to spend any time in 2012.
* MANPOWER * Volunteer Shifts:
- As The Mother Load Sale grows, so does our need for extra muscle! Our ManPower Volunteer Shifts are shorter, labor-intensive shifts designed to assist our staff with the loading, setting up, taking down and unloading all of the racks, tables, etc. we use during the sale.
- These 3-hour shifts are shorter than the regular volunteer shifts and only open to men as they require much lifting, building, and maybe even sweating.
- For each ManPower Volunteer Shift worked, the seller designated on their Volunteer Registration Form (see below) earns an extra 5% profit from their sales - an extra 10% for 2 shifts (Fri. + Sun.)
- There are VERY limited ManPower shifts available, assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. HURRY! ManPower Vols will also be able to shop at the Exclusive Friday Night PreSale 7-9PM.
Available * ManPower * Shifts:
Shift MP1: (2:40) 3-6PM on Friday – must arrive at 2:40PM to sign inShift MP2: (2:40) 3-6PM on Sunday – must arrive at 2:40PM to sign in- You are eligible for this shift ONLY if you are male AND connected to a registered seller at the sale who would earn the extra 5%. If you ARE NOT connected to a seller, you must sign up as a regular volunteer and work a complete 6-hour shift (which may or may not include hours during set-up and/or take-down if space is available.) Regular male shift volunteers are also invited to shop at the Friday Night Presale, or may work the shift and allow their wives to shop in their place.
